Dongdaemun Seoul Light and Cheonggyecheon Christmas Festival 2019

Updated: Jan 10, 2020

I am back with a special blog about Christmas light festivals in Seoul during the end of the year.

As you know there are a lot of festivals and events that Seoul Metropolitan City is preparing for its citizens and tourist every season. As Christmas and New Year's Eve passed I decided to make a small summary of two majors festivals in Seoul you could enjoy during this period.

Seoul Light

"Seoul Light" which was held at Dongdaemun Design Plaza from December 20th 2019 to January 3rd transformed the representative building in an amazing light show. With the theme "Seoul Haemong", the show marks its first anniversary planning to be held next year with different theme.

The lights started every day from 7PM to 10 PM 4 times per day, 16 minutes per show.

As the theme of this year was "Seoul Haemong" the main displayed videos and images were showing parts of Korea's past, present and future.

Combining the show with contemporary ambient music, overall I think it was a nice experience. Don't miss it next year during the same period of the year!

Cheonggyecheon Christmas Festival

Each season the Cheonggyeong main stream nearby City Hall Seoul is decorated to mark different events. As Christmas became an important event in Asian culture as well, this year starting with December 13th 2019 till the first of January 2020 you could enjoy the Christmas Festival with a lot of Christmas light characters, food and also the main attraction, the Christmas tree.

As I made a mistake going there during Christmas, I couldn't enjoy a lot as there were soo many people, but I still could take some photos and see from afar some of the main attractions of the festival.!

As I think this kind of festival will be held next year as well, if you have the chance to visit Seoul during Christmas period, don't miss check it out!
