The Agriculture Museum Seoul

Seoul Agriculture Museum located in Seoul was established back in 1987 nearby Sodaemun Station as a space aiming to experience agriculture life and values in a metropolitan settings. The museum preserves different artifact related to Korean farming since The Bronze period.

To keep up with the modernization, the museum was closed in 2003 for 2 years for modernization.

The Museum of Agriculture is the first museum of agricultural history to open in Korea, and currently possesses approximately 5,000 agriculture-related artifacts in its collection. Out of these 5,000 mentioned around 2,000 of them are on exhibit.

The first floor of the Museum has Two exhibition Halls, one for advertisement and one related to Agriculture History in Korea.

The second Exhibiton Hall shows the history of farming in Korea from the Bronze period and Iron period to Joseon period through different artifacts and dioramas.

It also exhibit the instruments used for farming as well as a real life wall painting from that period.

Moving to the second floor where the Exhibition Hall number 3 is located we could see a some lifestyle exhibition arrangements from that period, such as a rice field, different dioramas depending on the session and also arrangements related to traditions.

The most interesting part of this exhibition hall was the real life village installment where visitors can experience how a typical Korean farming village looked like. Form the houses of the villagers to the market. Felt like walking in a Korean history drama set.

At the end we also received a small gift from the museum.

I am totally recommend visiting this museum as also the location is very accesible.
